A meditation on the bittersweet joy of discovering great bands only to find their discographies cruelly finite. Suburban Lawns and Longpigs both made brilliant music, got their shot, and then just... stopped, without the dramatic narratives we usually use to explain why good things end. How many other bands like this are out there, vanished for reasons that have nothing to do with their music?
We sometimes mistake the nostalgia for simpler times as a longing for simpler things. The old internet wasn't better because it was simpler; it was better because it hadn't yet been corrupted. What about building something useful without the corruption?
